While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” And they remembered his words – Luke 24:4-8
“All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16
Stand firm each day through prayer and His Word.
Let God’s voice quiet your soul and guide your thoughts.
Step forward in faith, trusting His grace every moment.
The apostle Paul tells us it is of first importance :
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,”
While the gospel is good news, the law tells of your standing before a thrice-holy God – the one true God that stitched you in your mother’s womb and created the universe with His words. Your standing on your own before this holy God is one of condemnation.
“But why do I stand condemned?” you ask – it is because God’s standard is perfection and yet we have all sinned against Him. He is so infinitely perfect and holy that even one sin against Him is worthy of eternal damnation.
But I thought this was supposed to be good news!”. Based on our own actions – we deserve eternal damnation where God (who is perfect and holy and just) pours out His justified wrath on sinners. The good news is that there is one who was perfect and made Himself a substitute for those who would believe in him. This person is the God-man, Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us:
